On Jan 22, 2022, SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL will host the World Premiere of Brainwashed: Sex-Camera-Power.
Presented by Tim Disney, Susan Disney Lord, Abigail Disney & Menkesfilm, with additional support from Calarts Center for New Performance
Brainwashed is based on director Nina Menkes's cinematic presentation, Sex and Power, the Visual Language of Cinema, that uses film clips by A-list directors from the 1940s through to the present, to show how the visual grammar of cinema contributes to conditions that create discriminatory hiring practice, pay inequity and a pervasive environment of sexual harassment in the film industry and beyond.
The film features an interview with Lara Dale, founder of the Safe Sets® Initiative and professional foley artist. Lara hopes to attend the Premiere so watch here for stories and updates!
